The SWFPA has engaged Nefta to promote the RFVS scheme to meet the demands of the retail industry.

The scope of this work involves auditing the vessels in SWFPA and MNWFA to reach the RFVS standard for certification.

The restricted or unrestricted certificates now require both the Stability Awareness for Experienced Fishermen and the Advanced Stability courses to be completed.

Anyone holding the Under 16.5m Limited or Unlimited tickets needs to refresh their Safety Awareness certificate every 5 year to retain it.

Due to proposed changes to certification it will be a legal requirement to have a skippers ticket form 7m up to 16.5m.
This STCW requirement are in addition to the ILO requirements coming on stream.
